62 hours into Across the Years. Warm days, cool nights are the trend and it looks to stay that way the remainder of the race.

Not a lot of shuffling happening right at the moment. Australia’s Annabel Hepworth continues to lead the 6-day women with 193 miles and Yolanda Holder remains a strong second with 174 miles.  73-year-old Edda Bauer of Germany has moved back into 3rd place with 160 miles. Her fellow country-woman, Martina Hausmann is 4th with 151 miles and needs 305 miles for her 6-day total to reach 4,000 lifetimes miles.

Dave Proctor’s commanding lead continues to grow as he aims for the Canadian 72-hour record of 308 miles which has stood since 1881. He’s currently 282 miles down and will need 26+ miles in the next 10 hours. We’ll see if he takes a break tonight or how he plays out the remaining miles for this particular record. Ed Ettinghausen is at 219 miles and is, as always, the life of the party when the field changes direction – train horn, cowbell and all. An impressive feat for someone 62 hours into a race. Iso Yucra is at 211 miles and inching closer to Ed. 71-year-old Bill Heldenbrand looks fantastic in 4th and has covered 185 miles.

To watch: In the 72-hour Melissa Soper is closing in on 200 miles and only has 9 to-go. However, Amy Mower started one day behind Melissa and has accumulated 138 miles so far. Will be interesting to see if Melissa stops at 200 or continues through the entire 72-hours to try to hold off Amy.

Lifetime 1,000 mile update! Here at Across the Years we celebrate 1,000 lifetime miles and commemorate it with a jacket embroidered with the runner’s name, race logo, and “1,000 miles.”

These are the runners who have completed the mileage so far this year needed to reach the lifetime 1,000 mile mark at Across the Years:

  • Liz Bauer
  • Eric Poulsen
  • Vanessa Jones
  • Yolanda Holder
  • Claudia Newsom
  • Bill Heldenbrand

Who else to watch in the hunt for 1,000 lifetime miles:

Matthew Watts needs 80 miles for his 1,000 mile jacket and is ¾ of the way there with 10 more hours to go in his 24-hour race.

Jill Hudson needs 92.5 miles and has 48 miles so far and has another 36 hours to get the next 44.5 miles.

Karen Vollan has 116 miles so-far and needs a total of 147.56. She’s in the 6-day so has PLENTY of time to get that last 50km and more.

Mike Melton is timing the race and getting miles in while he can to accumulate the 77 miles he needs for his jacket. He’s got another 39 miles to go and 3.5 more days to do it.

Geoff Foote has 40 miles of his 160 miles needed to reach 1,000 and started the 72-hour today. Last year Geoff racked up 202 miles over 72 hours.

Frederick Davis III  in the 6-day has 100 miles left as he’s already 98 miles into the 198 total needed for his 1,000th lifetime miles.

Bobby Koegh has 150 miles done and has 3.5 more days to reach 214 total.

Iso Yucra needs 463.02 miles to reach 1,000 and this is not completely outside his wheelhouse. He’s at 211 thus-far in the 6-day.
