Melia CouryPost-Race Interview

Daniel Hadis

Melia Coury: I’m here with Daniel Hadis and he just placed second at the 2016 Kendall Mountain Run.

Daniel and Thoru (Translator): Thank you

M: And what is your name as well? [To translator]

Thoru: Thoru

M: Thank you Thoru, he is going to help us translate today. Can you tell us a bit about your experience?

T: I’m a distance runner which a 10K, 5K run. Just coming here to train on the hill for my upcoming races.

M: I love that Kendall (Mountain) is a hill. What was the hardest part?

T: I was the first one up the hill so when we coming back and then that guy comes from behind and I don’t expect anybody to be coming past me. So I can say the hardest part was the downhill. Uphill is hard but to me the downhill is the hardest.

M: Did you have a favorite part of the run?

T: He’s saying everywhere from the bottom all the way to the top hill everything is beautiful. The weather, everything is beautiful. But it is pain.

M: Beautiful pain. Do you think you want to do more Sky Races after getting a flavor of this one?

T: As much as this is going to help me with my endurance and my strength I will not be always, but once and a while yeah. But what I am running is on the tracks and on the roads.

M: Can you just tell us where you are from and what’s the next race you are going to do?

T: I came from Ethiopia, I’m Ethiopian. I live in Colorado Springs. Train here. My next race is in two months in Europe. My manager is going to let me know but for the time I am just training here.

M: Well I wish you the best of luck congratulations, again.
