Javelina Jundred, presented by HOKA takes place at the Four Peaks Staging Area in McDowell Mountain Regional Park, north of Fountain Hills, Arizona. The 100 Mile route comprises one 22.3 mile loop, featuring the Escondido Trail on the far East Side of the park, and four 19.45 mile loops on the popular Pemberton, Shallmo, and Cinch Trails.
Runners will find support at four on-course aid stations per loop: Javelina Jeadquarters, Coyote Camp, Jackass Junction, and Rattlesnake Ranch. Crew access is limited to Javelina Jeadquarters, and pacers are welcome to join a runner in accordance with our guidelines below.

Course Description
The race begins at the Four Peaks Staging Area, known as Javelina Jeadquarters, and heads out through Shallmo Wash, crossing McDowell Mountain Park Drive shortly after the start. From there, the trail rolls through gentle hills and sandy terrain, including a section through Pemberton Wash.
After passing the Tonto Tank Trail junction, the course turns sharply left at the base of a long climb, then curves right into a steady ascent. Runners reach the first aid station at Coyote Camp, located near a park service road. From here, the trail climbs gradually along a rocky path before leveling out and turning north toward the McDowell Mountains, where the terrain becomes more varied with rolling hills and valleys.
This segment of the course winds through sandy washes and desert drainages, with short elevation changes (20–50 feet). Though narrower in places, the trail is maintained with erosion-control logs and offers smoother footing than the earlier rocky section. Runners pass by unique boulder formations before descending toward Granite Tank, home of the Jackass Junction Aid Station.
Leaving Jackass, the course follows the Pemberton Trail—a gradual, downhill singletrack running parallel to the old jeep road—until reaching the North Road crossing and the next aid station at Rattlesnake Ranch.
-
First Loop: From Rattlesnake Ranch, runners turn left to take the Escondido Trail back to Javelina Jeadquarters.
-
Subsequent Loops: Runners follow the Pemberton Trail to the Cinch Trail, returning to Javelina Jeadquarters to complete each lap.
Both the 100 Mile and 100 Km courses will follow the same two loops.
This course offers a mix of smooth desert singletrack, sandy washes, moderate climbs, and scenic views of the McDowell Mountain landscape.
Course Marking
The course will be marked with orange ribbon with black polka dots along the entire course. Blue & white checkerboard ribbon will be placed at junctions or trails not a part of the race. Bright yellow signs labeled with the Javelina Jundred logo and arrows will also be placed at all junctions on the course, with wrong way signs on trails that are not a part of the race.
During the night, reflective markers will be placed around the loop to further assist runners.
Additionally, all trails and trail junctions within McDowell Mountain Park are signed with permanent signs by the park.

Javelina Jundred features four on course aid stations per loop around the Pemberton Trail: Coyote Camp, Jackass Junction, Rattlesnake Ranch, and Javelina Jeadquarters (Start/Finish). The longest distances between aid is the 6.5 miles between Coyote Camp and Jackass Junction, as well as the 6.6 miles between Rattlesnake Ranch and Javelina Jeadquarters on the first loop. We highly recommend a minimum of two water bottles for this stretch of trail beginning with loop 2.All aid stations will be stocked with water, ice for personal use, Gatorade, GU gels, salt, sweet snacks, salty snacks, fruit, and several “real food” options.

Crewing
Crews have a chance to see their runner every 20 miles without having to drive. While we have limited amounts of shade in the desert crews have an opportunity to bring a shade canopy, chairs, and may be a cold one to share with a neighbor. Crews get to watch the entire race unfold along the inside track of Javelina Jeadquarters and plenty of time in between to party with us at the finish line!
Crew Guidelines
- Crewing is only allowed at Javelina Jeadquarters.
- Crews may set up pop-up canopies (10×10 size strongly recommended) in designated crew areas outside the camping zones. These areas will be clearly marked for your convenience. If you need help locating your spot, please ask a staff member for assistance. (Crew spaces must be reserved in advance)
- Camping tents are only allowed in designated camping areas with a valid camping permit. Tents are not allowed in crew canopy zones.
- Aid station food and drinks are for runner and pacers only.
- Remember desert essentials: hat and sunglasses, high-SPF sunscreen, & layers for chilly overnight temps
- Food vendors, coffee carts, and a beer garden will be onsite and available for purchase at Javelina Jeadquarters.
- Ice will be available for sale at the Javelina big top tent (event store).
- NO PETS allowed anywhere on-site at Javelina.
- This event is rated ‘R’. If you plan to bring children, be advised: Javelina features explicit music, risqué costumes, and the occasional bare butt. It is not a fully kid-friendly environment.
- Leave No Trace: Pack out all trash and personal belongings. Do not leave tents, chairs, or gear behind. If you'd like to donate chairs or tents to the event, a designated area will be provided.
- Use the on-site facilities. Do not relieve yourself in the desert. Anyone caught by staff or park rangers may be fined by the park and removed from the event.
Pacing
Multiple pacers may be used, but only one at a time. Pacers must be human and on foot (no pets and no bicycles allowed). Pacers can only be picked up and dropped off at Javelina Jeadquarters, therefore, all pacers should be prepared to complete the full 20-mile loop; no exceptions. No muling or carrying of a participant’s gear or supplies.
Pacers are allowed after three loops (61.2 miles) or at sunset, whichever comes first in the 100-mile race. To clarify the sunset rule: If you are leaving Jeadquarters at 5pm or later for your 3rd loop, you may have a pacer starting on loop three.
Pacer Rules
- All pacers must sign a waiver and wear a designated "pacer" bib while on course.
- All race rules apply to pacers.
- One pacer per runner on course.
- Pacers must be human and on foot—no pets or bicycles.
- Pacers cannot mule or carry gear or supplies for the runner.
Race Timing
All runners will be provided with a race bib that must be worn at all times during the race. You will be checked in and out of all aid stations on the course as well as chip timed at the finish line. Please make sure bibs are secured to the front of your person for accurate timing and tracking on race day.
There are two drop bag locations at the race where you can leave a small bag with extra race supplies. If you’re new to drop bags, we recommend using a waterproof bag or container (or placing your items in a plastic bag) in case of rain. Consider including food or nutrition items not available at aid stations, such as gels, chews, or powders used in training. Additionally, it’s advisable to pack a headlamp, extra batteries, spare socks, and a layer of clothing (gloves, jacket, long sleeves, etc.) for the overnight portion.
Please ensure your drop bag is labeled with your name, bib number, and aid station location.
One drop bag is designated for the start/finish line at Javelina Jeadquarters and can be accessed during each loop. On race morning, a specific area near the main aid station will be provided for drop bag placement. These will be placed in an open area and uncovered.
You can also have a drop bag for the Jackass Junction aid station, located approximately halfway around the loop. This bag will be transported to the aid station before the first wave start. Bring your bag to the designated area near the start line, and label it with your bib number and “Jackass Junction.” Please be mindful of the size of your remote drop bag; we will not transport large duffle bags, suitcases, or coolers. Please note, all bags from Jackass Junction will be returned to Jeadquarters Sunday by 12:00pm.

-
Simplified Parking – Replaces VIP parking with a more inclusive system.
Check-in begins Friday, October 24 at 7:00 AM.
Vehicles will not be permitted to move in or out during race day. All campers must arrive on Friday.

New for 2025
Camping and RV Reservations
Beginning in 2025 all camping and RV reservations will open alongside race registration at the start of the year. These spaces, along with crew canopy spaces, will only be available for purchase during registration. Additionally, we will not be hosting a waitlist for any camping or crew space reservations. This adjustment simplifies the reservation process and ensures a more equitable distribution of available spaces. By consolidating reservations into one step, we’re making it easier for participants to plan their race weekend and secure their accommodations well in advance.
Why This Change?
- Convenience for Participants: A single, consolidated reservation process during registration eliminates the need for additional transactions later in the year.
- Transparency and Equity: Releasing all spaces simultaneously ensures equal access for all runners and their crews.
- Improved Planning: A streamlined process allows us to better allocate and manage these limited resources, ensuring everyone has a fair chance to reserve their preferred accommodations.
Elimination of VIP Parking and Introduction of Car Camping
For 2025, we are eliminating VIP parking as part of our efforts to simplify logistics and provide more options for campers. We are introducing car camping, which offers an exclusive and convenient option for those staying on-site. Car camping will include a camping pass valid from Friday to Sunday, granting car campers a designated area within the comp lot. General parking will be relocated to the park road to accommodate this new setup. Please note that car camping will not allow in/out access on race day (Saturday), so vehicles must remain parked in the designated area from Friday night through Sunday.
Benefits of Car Camping
- Exclusive Access: Car campers will enjoy a dedicated area within the comp lot, close to race activities and amenities.
- Integrated Experience: Staying on-site enhances the race weekend atmosphere and fosters a deeper connection to the Javelina community.
- Simplified Logistics: By replacing VIP parking with car camping, we’re creating a more inclusive and equitable system for all participants while ensuring a smoother parking process.
With the help from Halo, a hotel booking platform for athletes, supporters and fans, we’ve selected a few different hotel options for you and your crew to choose from that are close and convenient for the race. Booking through us gives you access to discounted rates, swag bags and designated breakfast areas to connect with other Javelina guests. Best of all, a portion of your reservation will be donated to charity! Experiences are better when you #staytogether

- Stay on Course: This is a closed course. Follow the marked route in the race direction. Cutting or deviating may result in time penalties and up to disqualification. If you get off course, retrace to the last known marker in order to continue.
- Trail Etiquette: The course will be shared with the public. Alert others before passing. Uphill runners/hikers have the right of way. Stay in control while descending and respect other runners.
- No Pets: Pets are not allowed on the course or anywhere at Javelina. This includes inside campers and cars.
- No Littering: Discard any and all trash in provided bins along the course and at aid stations. Do not drop or leave organic materials like peels or toilet paper in the desert.
- Trekking Poles: Permitted with RD approval. Please inquire [email protected]
- Respect Others: Be courteous to volunteers, staff, officers, park rangers, trail users, and fellow participants.
- Drops and Distance Changes: 100K runners who stop at cannot switch distances to claim a finish. Dropping out results in a DNF.
- Cutoffs: Cutoffs are enforced by gun time for your wave. Example: 6:00 AM wave = 12:00 PM cutoff; 6:30 AM wave = 12:30 PM cutoff.
- Finish Times: Official finish times are based on gun time; buckles are awarded by chip time.
Dying to join the party this year? Below are some of the most asked questions about registration and the current waitlist.
What’s my chance of joining the party? Don’t wait! Registration opens January 1 each year. If the race sells out, join the waitlist. Runners have an excellent chance of racing the sooner they register or the sooner they jump on the waitlist.
If I’m on the waitlist, will my card be charged if I’m selected? No. Runners will received an invitation to confirm their entry before any fees are processed.
How long do I have to confirm/accept my entry when selected? Runners have 72 hours to confirm. After three days their spot will be withdrawn and made available to the next runner in line.
How do I check my position on the waitlist? You may view the waitlist or entrants list on the event menu on the race’s ultra signup page. OR…click HERE
What are my chances of getting in if I’m on the waitlist? It’s difficult to predict your chances of securing a spot because the waitlist moves entirely based on participant withdrawals, and each year is unique. The waitlist is managed on a first-come, first-served basis, so you’ll receive an email notification if a spot becomes available for you.
Can I cancel/withdraw from the waitlist without being charged? Yes – but do you really want to miss this party? Runners can withdraw themselves at anytime with no charges incurred. Go to your “registration history” on Ultrasignup to make adjustments to your registration.
Can I defer to next year? Please check out updated withdrawal policy below.
Aravaipa is excited to be partnering with Wander Project again to offer a charity bib program for Javelina Jundred (all race distance options). In 2024 we had nine charity runners raise $28,500 for eight charities, and we hope to further increase this impact in 2025!
Runners in this program commit to raising a minimum amount for charity ($4000 for Javelina 100 Mile, $3000 for Javelina 100KM). A portion of these funds go to cover race costs and charity bib administration, and the rest goes to the non-profit(s). Runners have the ability to raise funds for a charity of their choosing.
If you are interested in participating in this program, you can sign up for updates about Javelina charity bibs from Wander Project here.
If you are interested in participating in this program, please DO NOT register on UltraSignup. Instead, register by clicking the link below.
Withdrawal Policy
Unless otherwise stated, we will provide a 75% race credit on Ultrasignup towards a future Aravaipa Running event if notified in writing to [email protected] 30 days out from the event. If notified 5 days prior to the event, a 50% race credit may be provided in case of injury or family emergency. No race credit will be issued within 4 days of the event or after the event.
Credits will be good for one year from date of issuance and can only be used once. If you withdraw from an event for which credits were used, you will not be reissued those credits. This reissuance policy also includes credits earned and used by volunteering. No cash refunds or transfers to another participant or event will be issued under any circumstance. No selling of entries is permitted. No refunds or credits will be provided for dropping down in race distance.
Pregnancy Policy
Registered individuals who become pregnant are eligible to receive 100% race credit for the event that they must withdraw from. They will be granted two years from the date they reached out to use this credit before expiration.
Entrance Policy for Transgender Athletes
We will accept each entrant’s declared gender at face value, and no additional supporting evidence is required.
Participation for Elite Competition
Transgender women may register to compete in an elite women’s division, provided they have undergone continuous, medically supervised hormone treatment for gender transition for at least one year prior to the race.
Transgender men may register to compete in an elite men’s division. Transgender men may not register to compete in any women’s divisions if they have begun hormone treatment for transition that includes testosterone, or any other banned substance as defined by the World Antidoping Agency.
Runners may compete in the category of their sex assigned at birth if they have not undergone hormone treatment.
Transgender entrants, at their option, may provide medical documentation related to their transition to the Race Director prior to the race. All information about the runner’s gender identity and medical information, including any information provided pursuant to this policy, will be kept strictly confidential.
Challenges of Results Involving Transgender Athletes
Aravaipa Running and its organizers will not tolerate hateful or discriminatory behavior by any of our runners, or those associated with the race, regardless of the cause.
Our commitment to inclusivity extends to fostering a culture of respect and understanding among all participants. We expect all parties to behave in a manner that is honest, compassionate, and respectful. Discriminatory behavior or challenges based on gender identity will not be tolerated or entertained by the race organizers.
Entrance Policy for Non-Binary Athletes
Aravaipa is committed to creating an inclusive and welcoming environment for all athletes including those who identify as non-binary. This policy outlines our approach to ensuring non-binary runners feel respected and included in our events.
Definition of Non-Binary
Non-binary individuals may not exclusively identify as either ‘man’ or ‘woman’ and may experience their gender identity in various ways. We recognize and respect the diverse ways individuals understand and express their gender.
Registration for Non-Binary Athletes
Non-binary and gender non-conforming athletes are encouraged to register as their self- identified gender. Ultrasignup now offers a non-binary option for runners upon registration. We pass this option on to our runners when they register. If you have an existing account, you may need to edit your account to indicate your gender as non- binary.
Awards and Podiums
If participation in an event by non-binary athletes warrants a top-three placement the race will include a Non-Binary Podium to award and recognize the athletes alongside the Men and Women’s Podiums.
Policy Review and Feedback
We are committed to ensuring this policy remains up-to-date and equitable. Your feedback is important to us. If you have questions, comments, or suggestions, please do not hesitate to contact the race organization or race director: [email protected]
While Aravaipa Running reserves the right to select any entrant for testing, the goal will be to test athletes from the elite men and women’s fields, including top age group competitors. Anyone selected for testing will be subject to post-race urine and/or blood testing and may be subject to additional follow-up testing for up to ninety (90) days.
USADA is responsible for sample collection and analysis services, including athlete interviews, documentation, and the shipping and handling of samples. See USADA’s Sample Collection Process page for more information.
Prohibited Substances
The anti-doping rules for the Run are set forth in the USADA Protocol for Olympic and Paralympic Movement Testing (USADA Protocol). Athletes must comply with the World Anti-Doping Code (WADA Code) and are prohibited from using the substances and methods on the WADA Prohibited List.
Strict Liability Applies. Athletes are responsible for 1) knowing what substances are prohibited, and 2) any substance found in their body, regardless of how it got there or whether there was any intent to cheat or violate anti-doping rules.
Check Your Medications. Use Global DRO to check whether any generic or name brand medications you’re taking contain a prohibited substance.
Therapeutic Use Exemptions (TUEs). If you are taking a medication for an illness or condition that contains a prohibited substance, you will need to see if you are eligible for a TUE, or medical exemption. All athletes will be treated as Recreational Athletes and can apply for a TUE retroactively. The only exception is athletes who qualify as an International-Level Athlete or National-Level Athlete under USADA’s TUE Policy. See USADA’s Therapeutic Use Exemptions (TUEs) page for more information.
Dietary and Nutritional Supplement Use. Dietary and nutritional supplements are not regulated and pose considerable risk of positive drug test results due to contamination and inaccurate labeling. If you choose to use supplements despite the known risks, USADA recommends using only those certified by a third-party program that tests for substances prohibited in sport. See Supplement Connect, USADA’s dietary supplement safety education resource, for more information.
Results Management
USADA is responsible for results management, including communications with athletes regarding test results, investigation and adjudication of any anti-doping rule violations, and sanctions. Learn more about the results management process from USADA’s Results Management page.
Anti-Doping Rule Violation
USADA Sanctions. Any athlete found to have committed an anti-doping violation will be sanctioned by USADA in accordance with USADA Protocol and the WADA Code.
Aravaipa Sanctions. Aravaipa Running shall have the right to impose its own sanctions on any athlete found to have committed an anti-doping violation, including the removal of the person’s name and finishing time from the official results and requiring the person to return awards including their finisher’s buckle.
FAQ’s and Resources
All questions regarding the anti-doping program should be directed to USADA which provides the following educational and other resources for athletes.
Which Aravaipa events will have testing? Any Aravaipa event may have drug testing. There will for sure be testing at both of our HOKA Golden Ticket races (Javelina Jundred & Black Canyon Ultras) as well as any USATF National Championship events.
Questions about Testing? Contact USADA’s Athlete Services Team at [email protected] or call (719) 785-2000. Check USADA’s Anti-Doping 101 for answers to some of the most commonly asked questions about drug testing.
Question about TUEs? Submit an application online to USADA’s Drug Reference Department to find out whether you need to file a TUE pre-event or retroactively for any medication you are taking.
Questions about Specific Products, Substances, or Methods? Check USADA’s Substance page, contact USADA’s Drug Reference Line at [email protected], or call (719) 785-2000.
Additional Resources. USADA’s Publications and Policies has information to help athletes understand their anti-doping responsibilities, including USADA’s testing program, the WADA Code, the WADA Prohibited List, the International Standards, TUEs, and the sample collection process.

Need to Know
Medical assistance is readily available at Javelina Jeadquarters, Jackass Junction, and on the course and other aids during the hotter parts of the day. Each runner’s bib includes MedStar’s phone number, and lettered signage throughout the loop aids in pinpointing a distressed runner’s location.
Our dedicated medical team is equipped to provide both basic and advanced first aid on-site. Please be aware that we retain the right to withdraw a runner from the race if our medical officials deem it necessary. These decisions prioritize your safety, and we kindly ask for your understanding without argument. Continuing in a compromised state is a potential hazard, and our aim is to prevent any untoward incidents.
IMPORTANT: In the event of an emergency, do NOT immediately call 911. Our experienced medical team has been part of this race for the last five years and they have a deep understanding of the terrain and local access points. Please contact their 24-hour number, clearly provided on all runner bibs and lettered signage along the course. A real human will respond and dispatch assistance accordingly.
Race Day Number

480-269-4126
The race usually encounters warm to hot afternoons and chilly nights. The dry desert air in late October/early November, combined with the rural race location, often results in significant temperature fluctuations, especially at sunset. While the average highs hover around 82 degrees and the average lows around 58 for this time of year, it’s worth noting that the race has experienced daytime temperatures reaching the mid-90s and nighttime temperatures dipping into the high 30s. Be prepared for a diverse range of temperatures on race day.
The course is open, exposed, and offers minimal shade. As the sun sets behind the McDowell Mountains, temperatures can swiftly drop from 80 degrees to 50 degrees. Your sweat-soaked clothes can transform into a cooling suit. It’s not unusual for our medical team to address heat exhaustion during the day and then tackle hypothermia just a few hours later. We recommend packing a long sleeve in your drop bag and stay prepared for a range of condition.
Sunset is at 6:12 PM. To ensure adequate lighting during the race, please plan your drop bags accordingly: It’s advisable to pack a headlamp, extra batteries, spare socks, and a layer of clothing (gloves, jacket, long sleeves, etc.) for the overnight portion. Consider placing lights in multiple locations as a backup.
We consider ourselves fortunate to embrace the great outdoors as our passion, and in our commitment to preserving the beauty of the trails we cherish, we’ve made Javelina Jundred a cupless event.
As part of our ongoing efforts to minimize environmental impact, all runners should be aware that disposable cups will not be provided at aid stations. Instead, we encourage you to bring your own container for refilling. Ultraspire cups are available for purchase online during registration, at our event expo, and on race day, or you can bring your own reusable cup or water bottle. Simply grab a cup or bottle, and we’ll happily fill it for you at each aid station. Consider bringing one for water and another for electrolytes, soda, pickle juice, or any other refreshments.
Your cooperation in preparing for a cup-free race day is greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance for being exceptional stewards of the trails!
The course crosses the main park road twice: once on the way out of Javelina Jeadquarters toward Coyote Camp, and again near Rattlesnake Ranch. Crossings will be clearly marked, but vehicles are not required to stop. It is your responsibility to look both ways and cross with caution.
McDowell Mountain Regional Park charges a $7 entry fee per motorized vehicle per day. One vehicle entry fee is included in race registration, which will be provided at the park gate on Friday. Additional crew, pacer, or spectator vehicles will need to pay the $7/day entry fee. Annual Passes (good at all Maricopa County Regional parks) are available from the park for $85.
Parking in the Four Peak Staging Area, Jeadquarters, will be restricted to RVs or vehicles with a valid camp permit. All other vehicles will park along the main park road guided by our parking staff.
Vehicles parking along the main park road will be able to pull safely off the road without parking in undisturbed desert. Do no park “off road” beyond the designated parking space or in washes. No ‘camping’ on the side of the road.
There will be NO vehicle access to Jeadquarters on race day. The Four Peaks Lot/Jeadquarters will remain closed for the event through Sunday at 6:00 am.
Park shuttles will operate with designated stops along the main McDowell Mountain Park road to transport runners and their crew to the main lot on Friday and Saturday. Shuttles will operate an out and back route during main hours of the runner Expo, early Saturday for the 100 Mile and 100K start, and Saturday evening for the 31K. Designated Shuttle Stations will be marked along the main park road.
There will be NO drop off zone for the 2025 event. All runners will be directed to park and shuttle. Do not block traffic.
A shuttle schedule for the main road can be found below.
Friday: 10:00 am - 6:00 pm
Saturday AM: 5:00 am - 8:00 am
Saturday - Sunday: 4:00pm - 3:00 am
Crews are encouraged to set up a base camp to support their runner throughout the race. These personal spaces offer a spot for shelter, supplies, and comfort, making it easier to assist and track your runner. It’s also a great way to join the celebration and connect with the Javelina community.
2025 Update for Crew Canopy Reservations
For the 2025 race, we are introducing a $100 fee for crew tent reservations, which must be secured at the time of race registration. With limited crew spaces available for a race that accommodates up to 1,500 runners, this fee helps us manage increasing demand and prevent over-reservation.
This update is intended to ensure fair access to crew spaces and encourage runners and their crews to embrace the communal spirit of Javelina Jundred by sharing spaces. Reserving a crew space will now be a streamlined process integrated with race registration, simplifying planning and reducing last-minute logistical challenges.
Benefits of the Updated Crew Reservation Process:
-
Fairer Access: Discouraging over-reservation ensures more participants have the opportunity to secure a crew space.
-
Fostering Community: Shared crew spaces encourage camaraderie and mutual support among runners and their crews, enhancing the event’s unique atmosphere.
-
Simplified Logistics: By including reservations at the time of registration, we reduce administrative complexity and ensure spaces are allocated to those who genuinely need them.

Time-Slot Selection
During the registration process, runners select their preferred time slots for setting up a 10×10 crew space either Thursday, October 23, from noon to 3:00 PM or Friday, October 24, starting at 7:00 AM. Please note there are limited spots available per time slot. Once each time slot is full the time slot will disappear from the the menu. There will be no waitlist for the 2025 event.
Participant-Linked Registration
Only individuals who are officially registered participants in the Javelina Jundred are eligible to complete the crew space reservation registration.
Max Crew Size
Limit one crew space per registration: Runners may reserve one 10×10 space during registration. If you have a group of more than 10 runners please contact us before completing registration. Large clubs or groups traveling together with more than ten registered runners, please email us at [email protected] for further information on large group reservations.
Reservation Ownership/Transfers
Crew space reservations are non-transferable and are directly linked to the individual runner for whom the reservation was made. Reservations may not be transferred, sold, or exchanged to another friend, or crew. If a runner is unable to attend the event and needs to cancel their crew space reservation, the reserved space will be released for general registration. If a runner has withdrawn from the race but has made a reservation for a larger group, reservation ownership may need to be changed. Please contact race management to update. Runners needing to cancel their crew space please communicate directly with the event organizer.
Waitlist
Waitlist: there will be no waitlist for the 2025 event. If the race is sold out, any unclaimed crew spaces will be made available on a first come first serve basis later in the year.
Community Crew Space
We understand that securing a crew space can be a challenge due to the high demand at Javelina Jundred. To ensure that every participant has the opportunity to enjoy the support of a crew, we will have two dedicated Community Crew Spaces at Jeadquarters this year. These spaces have been reserved to provide assistance to runners who were not able to secure a crew space during the reservation process.
Contact Us
If you have any questions or need assistance with crew camp reservations, please don’t hesitate to contact us at [email protected]. We’re here to help and ensure your crew’s experience is as smooth as possible.
If you decide to drop, you must do so at an aid station and inform the aid station captain. They will record your bib number and confirm your withdrawal from the race.
DO NOT WALK OFF COURSE!
Please be aware that transportation from remote aid stations can take an hour or more. If you drop at a remote aid station (Coyote or Jackass Junction) you may need to wait, as race command will prioritize urgent medical needs first.
Due to the size, traffic, and exposed nature of the event, pets are not allowed anywhere at Javelina, no exceptions. This includes the race venue, campsites, and inside any vehicles such as cars, camper vans, or RVs. Desert temperatures can quickly become dangerous, even inside enclosed vehicles.
This rule is in place for the safety of all attendees and animals. Please leave your pets at home or arrange off-site accommodations. If you're traveling from out of town, pet boarding options are available in Fountain Hills and nearby Scottsdale.
Be sure to communicate this rule to your crew—anyone with a pet onsite will be asked to leave.
Additional Event Info
Javelina Jundred was founded by Phoenix ultrarunner Geri Kilgariff in 2003. Here is Geri's account of the history of the race:
"Yeah, the idea started out as a joke. Woofie, (Anthony Humpage) and I were running on the Pemberton trail one day and thought it'd be funny to have a 100-miler there, running multiple loops. "The runners would kill us!"
Then, thinking about it, it wasn't such a bad idea. It'd be a fast course, easy to aid, and the park was close to civilization and near a major airport. Woofie came up with the name Javelina Hundred, which became Javelina Jundred just for the fun of it. The whole idea of the race was to make it fun. That's how it became "The 100-Mile Party Run."
I thought I'd be lucky to get 50 runners to enter that first year (2003). I ended up with 180 entries and would've had more if I hadn't cut off the entries a week before the race. I think that was the most entries for a first-year 100-mile endurance run.
The race was won that year by Stephanie Ehret. I believe it was one of the first 100-mile races won by a woman.
The Pemberton 50k had been started a few years earlier, and that race always donated their proceeds to McDowell Mountain Regional Park. Using that model, I figured it'd be good for Javelina to follow suit. I figured I'd maybe have $1,000-$2,000 to give that year. It ended up raising $10,000. I think that was another 'first' too."
The race was later directed by James and Rodger Wrublik for several years before transitioning to Jamil Coury in 2008. In 2009, Jamil founded Aravaipa Running, which has organized Javelina ever since. Each year, Aravaipa Running supports McDowell Mountain Regional Park through entry fees, camping permits, and participant contributions.
We’re once again partnering with the Maricopa Trail + Park Foundation, the official sponsor of our on-site charity beer garden located near the start/finish line.
The Maricopa Trail + Park Foundation is a nonprofit organization focused on supporting and maintaining Maricopa County’s extensive trail and park system. Their mission is to ensure long-term access, sustainability, and enjoyment of these outdoor spaces for all.
Last year, Javelina participants helped raise over $3,000 through the charity beer garden. All proceeds directly support trail development, maintenance, and park initiatives across the county.
We encourage all runners, crews, and spectators to visit the beer garden and contribute to the continued growth and care of the trails we run on.

A BIG THANK YOU to the running groups volunteering at our Javelina aid stations:
Jackass Junction – AZ TraiLeggers
Coyote Camp – San Tan Trail Runners
Rattlesnake Ranch – Evolve United
Javelina Jundred is an R-rated event (with some exceptions). We love the family-feel but that doesn’t mean it’s totally kid-friendly race day. There will be explicit music played at Jeadquarters and other aid stations, and possibly some risqué costumes (NOTE: frontal nudity/exposure is NOT permitted)*.
The bottom line is this is an adult ultra-marathon party in the desert.
*We have a best ass award… so expect some bare butts.
You’ve been warned.
