RACE INFORMATION

Location
10 Lane Boat Ramp (East) at Lake Pleasant Regional Park, Morristown, AZ. Directions

Course Summary
A unique chance to run across the New Waddell Dam which was built to create Lake Pleasant. All events except the 2 mile will cross the dam right away. The 26 kilometer (Dam Crazy) and 40 kilometer (Dam Insane) courses will utilize newly constructed trails traversing along the shoreline and above the lake. The 40 kilometer course climbs to the top of Yavapai Point with incredible lake views.

40 Km Runners: The foot bridge that connects the trail through Pipeline Cove is still out of commission and requires either a short trip in a raft operated by a certified raft guide from Arizona Hiking Shack with a life vest on or you had the option to put on a PFD vest and swim. The stretch was short and took two minutes or less from putting on your vest, loading, and crossing. You will cross this Cove twice during your 40Km.

Weather
This race is typically warmer by mid to late morning- perfect for a post-race dip in Lake Pleasant!  Forecast for Morristown, AZ

Aid Stations
Aid stations every 1.6 to 5.4 miles including water, electrolyte drink (Gnarly Fuel 2O), sweet snacks, salty snacks, and fruit. It is likely the exposed desert trails will still feel hot as the morning progresses, so please be prepared (run with AT LEAST 2 bottles (40 ounces) of fluids). Plan for sun and hot temperatures.
NOTE: Aqua Fria & Scorpion will be “light” aid stations in regard to food options. There will be plenty of water but no sandwiches, bean rollups, and the like. Two Cow and Cottonwood aid stations will be “full” aid stations with those items in addition to the sweet and salty snacks.

NEW: Cupless Events

In an effort to continually lessen our race footprint, we are expanding our cupless events to the Desert Runner Trail Series. We will have UltrAspire reusable cups available at registration and on race day or feel free to bring your own!

COURSE INFORMATION

Courses
The 40K, 26K and 13K runs take place on rugged, single track trail with significant challenging climbs, incredible views, steep descents, large boulders, rocks, and desert vegetation. The courses offer a challenging but rewarding experience for all, from the beginning trail runner to the most experienced ultra marathoner.

2024 Courses: All courses will now run through the main parking lot to the super fun Roadrunner Trail which parallels the lake until you climb up to the interpretive center and onto the Waddell Dam. More trail, more fun!

2024 4 Mile & 2 Mile Course Updates: The 4 Mile and 2 Mile runs will be on an out-and-back. The 2 Mile will be on the Roadrunner trail in BOTH directions and will run to the edge of New Waddell Dam (at the visitor center) as the halfway point. The 4 Mile will also follow the Roadrunner trail as it skirts the lake and cross over New Waddell Dam before turning around to head back to the finish on Roadrunner trail.  These courses are runner, walker, and beginner friendly!
