Be Moved this October in support of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Sponsored by UCLA Health and in cooperation with Aravaipa Virtual, the Be Moved virtual race provides an opportunity for you to challenge yourself to move for your personal health and wellness. And, your participation helps support breast cancer awareness and provides whole person, integrative psychosocial care to support patients and families! Let’s Be Moved!
Starting October 1, participants will have the entire month of October to get moving! Select one of five distances or go big and take the "Moved" challenge to complete all five distances and accumulate 50 miles (well, 49.6 miles, but who's counting) throughout October! Choose a course of your own design and at a time that works best for your schedule. Invite your friends and family to join in and Be Moved in October.
In addition to making a move toward personal health, a percentage of every Be Moved entry will be directly donated to the Simms/Mann - UCLA center for Integrative Oncology. The Simms/Mann - UCLA Center for Integrative Oncology provides whole person, integrative psychosocial care to support patients and families at UCLA with the tools they need to meet the challenges that cancer brings, and to be empowered to enhance their overall well-being across the entire cancer trajectory. UCLA Health aims to inspire individuals to keep moving forward toward healthy lives.

BE MOVED TOWARD COMMUNITY CARE
A percentage of every registration is directly donated to Simms/Mann – UCLA Center for Integrative Oncology. The Simms/Mann - UCLA Center for Integrative Oncology provides whole person, integrative psychosocial care to support patients and families at UCLA with the tools they need to meet the challenges that cancer brings, and to be empowered to enhance their overall well-being across the entire cancer trajectory. Services include a wide range of individual and group support, nutritional counseling, spiritual care and workshops such as healing through art and preparing for surgery.
BE MOVED TOWARD SELF CARE
One in eight women in the United States are diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime. But early diagnosis and advanced treatments mean that breast cancer can often be successfully treated or cured. Self-examinations, annual check-ups, and mammogram screening tests can aid in early detection. Work with your doctor to determine when you should get your first mammogram and how freuqently they should be performed based on your family history and other factors. For more information click here.
All participants will receive a race packet via mail. Participants will receive a T-shirt, race bib, sticker and wood finisher medal custom designed and handcrafted by Aravaipa Artworx. Option to save $6 by selecting "No Shirt" upon registration. Registration includes all domestic shipping and handling fees.
What Is A Virtual Race?
A Virtual Race is like a traditional race but it takes place in a location and time of your choice. You can walk, run, or roll wherever you may be, and at any time throughout the month of October for your chosen distance.
The great thing about a virtual run is you choose the venue; your favorite park, a tour of downtown, around your neighborhood block, or a new trail you've always wanted to try. This is where you get to be creative. Participants can choose where they start and finish whether it be on road, trail, or treadmill. Wherever and however you want to complete the distance, be creative, have fun and of course please adhere to all local rules/restrictions.
Just like registering for a traditional race, you choose the distance that best suits you. Whether you gather the family and complete the 1M together, virtually challenge your friends in the 10K or take on the marathon, choose your distance and get moving!
- 1 Mile (Great for family!)
- 5 KM
- 10 KM
- MOVED Challenge (Complete all distances)
Be Moved celebrates every pace and step forward. Participants can choose to walk, run, or roll their distance--this virtual event is open to everyone of every ability and includes an open wheelchair division. Travel your chosen course at your pace and be sure to take pictures of your celebrated finish!
