Aravaipa Virtual – Event Director

Job Purpose

Aravaipa Running is an event management company, with the Aravaipa Virtual branch specializing in unique virtual endurance events. To produce outstanding events, we rely on the expertise of our Event Directors to ensure production is constantly moving forward with the total experience for participants always in mind. The Event Director leverages their marketing, operations and logistics knowledge to ensure the financial success of each event and is constantly focused on the highest levels of customer experience.

Aravaipa Virtual is a newer business venture under the Aravaipa corporate umbrella (encompassing Aravaipa Running, Aravaipa Rides, Aravaipa Artworx, and Steep Life Media). The Aravaipa Virtual Event Director would be responsible for overseeing the direction, marketing, logistics, and business development of this branch of Aravaipa’s business.

The Event Director is required to develop, maintain, and grow the Aravaipa Virtual events through marketing, customer service, and analytics analysis. The Event Director must also cultivate and maintain relationships with the Aravaipa Virtual community, sponsors, and vendors. They must be active during events, comfortable and outgoing on live streams, and ensure that all other event details are handled throughout the virtual event including communications, live stream, sponsors, and results/timing. The Event Director must have a strong sense of leadership, be able to make quick critical decisions and multi-task in a potentially high stress environment, and have the desire to work on details on the back end of events to ensure their future success and growth.

Required Skills

Candidates should have proven event management or related experience. Must be able lead a team of operations and Artworx staff to produce events and oversee event logistics including award production, shipping and receiving.  Have strong organization abilities and excellent time management skills. Candidates must be able to cultivate a virtual community and create unique experiences for our customers. Candidates must also be able to think quickly and make decisions throughout the event as they arise. Sales skills and ability to build productive business relationships are required.

Education

Associate’s degree in marketing, event management, business management or related field.

Experience & Qualifications

  • 3+ years of marketing experience or related field
  • Proven record of success in sales and marketing of Special Events
  • Must be able to courteously and efficiently deal with event participants, business relations, and employees
  • Excellent, proven interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
  • Proven ability to work with little to no supervision and be able to follow directions
  • Outgoing personality
  • Experience creating and managing budgets
  • Basic Microsoft Office experience
  • Provide the highest levels of customer service to Aravaipa standards

Responsibilities

The following is a list of some of the typical functions of the Event Director position for any given event. The management team may ask for additional help in other areas of the business including help with new events and ideas.

  • Plan, design, market and produce events on time and within budget
  • Effective communication with participants to ensure customer satisfaction
  • Create protocols and provide input for improving event organization and efficiencies
  • Manage Aravaipa Virtual Event websites
  • Oversee creative direction of events
  • Coordinate event logistics including awards production with the Aravaipa Artworx team and shipping and receiving deadlines with Aravaipa Operations.
  • Manage and lead event Live Streams on YouTube
  • Growth and expansion of current Aravaipa Virtual events
  • Proactively handle any arising issues and troubleshoot emerging problems throughout the event
  • Conduct pre- and post- event evaluations and report on outcomes
  • Research market, identify event opportunities and generate interest

Hours

Full-time. Typically 40 hours per week in the office, including weekends when events are held over a weekend.

Compensation

Pay Range: $40,000 - $55,000 annually
