The buses will begin operating around 6:45am and will depart for the start line around 7am or 715am depending on how many of you arrive that early. They will make trips to/from the park right up until about 7:45-7:50 a.m.
Parking & Runner Shuttle within Usery Mtn Park (separate shuttle)
We will once again have the shuttle running between parking lots within the Usery Mountain Regional Park to better assist you all in getting to the start line. The shuttle will run from 6 a.m. to 1 p.m. and the distance from the parking to the start/finish line is just under 1 mile.
50K runners & some 25K runners will be able to park in the main “Trailhead Staging Area” parking lot and not have to shuttle. Once this lot is full, everyone will be directed into lots C & D to be shuttled over. Please add this in to your arrival time to the start line.
Features winding trails throughout Usery Mountain Regional Park on the edge of the Goldfield Mountain Range. The start/finish will be at the Trail head Staging area.
The 25 km and 50 km courses will include a scenic loop around Pass Mountain in the Tonto National Forest.
We also hold the Punisher Night Runs at this park the same day as Pass Mountain. Finish any distance at both races and receive a unique custom medal for completing our Double Down! Races for Punisher begin at 6 p.m. and include a 5K, 10K, 20K, and 30K.

The 50 mile course will take runners outside of Usery Regional Park and through the lesser known but awesome Goldfield Mountains as you head north through the Tonto National Forest where you’ll link to the Maricopa Trail. Continuing northwest, you’ll do loop in the fun and windy Hawes Trail System before heading back to Usery via the Pass Mountain Trail, this time from North to South, unlike the 25K & 50K races.
The 50km and 25km runners will run through Usery Mountain Park and then out into the Tonto National Forest, over the Pass Mountain Trail. 10km and 5km runners will stay on gorgeous trails within Usery Mountain Park winding through Cholla Forests with views of Pass Mountain & the Superstition Wilderness Area, finishing with a climb through Cat Peaks Pass. Trail Running & Trash
Please respect the trails and the beauty of the desert by disposing of any trash at one of our aid stations.
Remember to always remain on designed trails, no short cutting.
If you decide to use headphones, please be respectful of runners behind you attempting to pass. Also, remove ear buds as you approach aid stations or a road crossing.
Please do not listen to music with a speaker (yes, we know you listen to the best music).
This course includes some legit single track. If you are fast and attempting to pass, please alert the runner in front of you before flying past them. Likewise, if you hear a runner approaching you from behind, attempt to find a spot to allow the runner to pass.
As a general rule, when passing a runner, announce, “on your left.”
Uphill runners/hikers have the right of way to downhill runners. Remain in control as you descend and respect the other runners.
Everyone is after the same goal here so let’s be respectful of each other’s races and have fun. Please.
We will be utilizing a chip timing system at this event to record your time at the finish. You will be provided with a timing chip embedded in your race bib. It is important to not crease, or fold the timing chip to ensure your finish time is read.
A drop bag will be allowed at the Trailhead Staging Area for 50K runners to access at the 25K point (start/finish line).
Aid Station Helpers
We cannot produce these trail runs without the help of our amazing volunteer team. You can even help and run on race day. If you would like to join our volunteer team, we are looking for help with event setup, aid station captains, aid station helpers, timing, photography, videography, social media and event breakdown. Volunteer perks include a piece of Aravaipa merchandise or race goody and Aravaipa Race Credits. You can see our current opportunities and sign up here:

The race courses will be well marked with orange plastic ribbons with black polka dots. Trail junctions and turns will be well marked with colored laminated signs that correspond with your race’s color (5K = Blue, 10K = Green, 25K = Yellow, 50K = Red). Please pay attention to these signs at each junction as there are multiple race distances and race courses! In addition, blue & white checkerboard plastic flagging will be hung to designate non-race or “WRONG WAY” trails. All runners are responsible for understanding the layout of the courses. Please familiarize yourself with the course maps on our website prior to race day and/or print a map to bring along with you.
Parking / Start Area
The start/finish line is located at the Trailhead Staging Area. Drive 1.4 miles past the park entry booth and turn left into the large dirt parking area. Overflow parking is available around the Blevins Drive Loop.
SHUTTLES: This event requires some of our entrants to park about one mile from the start/finish line and be shuttled over. Please plan accordingly.
