This is a call to the #SteepSquad and all those who embrace the #SteepLife: Aravaipa’s next virtual challenge of the year is here, and the name of the game is VERT. Raised By Rams is a 10-day mission to rack up as much vertical gain as possible. Inspired by our founder Jamil Coury’s love of climbing and the Run Steep Get High lifestyle, we’ve created this 10-day virtual expedition to test your grit from the comfort of your home or local trails.

There will be much more to gain than just vert. Along the climb, you’ll have the chance to earn badges as you grind your way to glory. And with the climb comes sweet prizes and limited-edition swag. No matter where you call homebase, or what your method of uphill annihilation is, this challenge is your chance to connect with your fellow runners and propel yourself to new heights so you can answer the ultimate question: Were YOU raised by rams?

Choose Your Challenge

As with all Aravaipa Virtual challenges, the main goal is to keep it inclusive and serve every runner’s needs or environment. So whether your medium is the mountains or a cranked-up treadmill, there are two categories available to get you higher: Vert Is Real and Virtual Vert. Before the challenge begins, you’ll select your canvas for climbing and compete against others in your category.

Vert Is Real

No treadmills allowed. The Vert Is Real category is all about the outdoor climb. From big peaks to neighborhood hill repeats, the great outdoors puts you in the Vert Is Real category. Because, in nature, what goes up must certainly come down. That’s more miles, and more punishment on the quads.

Virtual Vert

Treadmills allowed. The Virtual Vert category gives you permission to max out the grade and grind in place to reach your climbing goals. You’re welcome to throw some trails and outdoor features into the mix, but if a treadmill is involved for a single step along the way, then Virtual Vert is the category for your uphill mission.

Each step gets you closer to a new level of grit. As you climb higher throughout the week, you’ll have a chance to earn digital badges, with each level further cementing your status in our family of rams.

BONUS CHALLENGES:

Throughout the course of the 10-day vert-filled odyssey known as Raised by Rams, there will be a number of fun challenges to keep everyone engaged throughout the course of the event. To participate, you need to tag us on Instagram @RunSteepGetHigh and use the hashtag for the challenge you are submitting for along with your appropriate run data (i.e. tell us how much vert you got, how steep your run was, etc based not he challenge). All challenges will run the entirety of the event unless stated otherwise, which means you can put in multiple efforts trying to win the same category over the course of the race. Now, let's look at the challenges that will receive prize packs at the end of the event.

Participant Swag Bag

All participants in Raised by Rams this July/August will receive a Raised by Rams race packet via mail. Runners will receive a short-sleeve triblend t-shirt, sticker, and a handcrafted wooden medal designed by Aravaipa Artworx. In addition to the race pack, plenty of premium upgrades will be available for purchase including a Premium Award (designed by Aravaipa Artworx), a wooden belt buckle for those who want to show off their inner ram and a number of other amazing swag items! Registration includes domestic shipping fees. Additional fees and time for international shipping. Packets will ship starting July 20th. Register by July 18th to ensure your packet ships prior to the race. Packets for those participants who register after July 18 will not ship until August 29th!
