The Dam Good Run is a unique opportunity to run across the New Waddell Dam. Aravaipa Running in partnership with Lake Pleasant Regional Park brings you this 13th Annual run, walk & hike. Now with a 40 kilometer & 26 kilometer option on many of the park’s newest trails!
This event will also serve as the award ceremony for the Desert Runner Trail Series & our second annual volunteer appreciation event!
A unique chance to run across the New Waddell Dam which was built to create Lake Pleasant. All events except the 2 mile will cross the dam right away. The 26 kilometer (Dam Crazy) and 40 kilometer (Dam Insane) courses will utilize newly constructed trails traversing along the shoreline and above the lake. The 40 kilometer course climbs to the top of Yavapai Point with incredible lake views.

Lake Pleasant Regional Park
Aid stations every 1.6 to 5.4 miles including water, electrolyte drink, sweet snacks, salty snacks, and fruit. Being at the end of April in the Sonoran Desert, this race will be HOT, so please be prepared (run with AT LEAST 2 bottles (40 ounces) of fluids). Plan for sun and hot temperatures. Crews are permitted at the start/finish line only.
Only registered participants are permitted to cross the dam.
There are no pacers allowed for any distance.
Awards to the top 3 male & female finishers at each distance.
All finishers will receive a finisher award.

Online registration closes on 4/18 at 11:59 PM. Registration will be available after online registration closes at all packet pickup locations and race day.
Overall Race Cut-Off 3:00 PM for all races. All runners must be off the Dam by 9 AM.
The 40K, 26K and 13K runs take place on rugged, single track trail with significant challenging climbs, incredible views, steep descents, large boulders, rocks, and desert vegetation. The courses offer a challenging but rewarding experience for all, from the beginning trail runner to the most experienced ultra marathoner.
The 4 Mile and 2 Mile runs will be on an out-and-back. The 2 Mile will run to the edge of New Waddell Dam and the 4 Mile will cross over New Waddell Dam before turning around to head back to the finish. These courses are runner, walker, and beginner friendly.

Please arrive early to park, check in and warm up prior to your run. Restroom facilities are located at the start line at a permanent park facility.

Park Entry Fee
Remember the park charges a $6 park entry fee per vehicle. Please arrive early and have correct change (cash) available on race morning for a smooth entry process. Carpool to save!
Trail Running & Trash
Please respect the trails and the beauty of the desert by disposing of any trash at one of our aid stations.
We will be utilizing a chip timing system at this event to record your time at the finish. Results will be posted using “gun time” only. You will be provided with a timing chip embedded in your race bib number. Please wear this bib on the front of your clothing on race day.
A drop bag will be allowed at the Scorpion Bay Aid Station for the 40 Km & 26 Km runners. All drop bags MUST be at the start line in the appropriate area by 7:30 AM to be transported over to the Scorpion Bay Aid Station. Drop bags should be back to the start/finish line by 2 PM or you can pick them up on your way out of the park if you finish early.
Aid Station Helpers
We cannot produce these trail runs without the help of our amazing volunteer team. If you are interested in helping with the Dam Good Run, we have opportunities to help with setup, registration, aid stations, finish line, course sweep and breakdown. All volunteers will receive an Aravaipa Running shirt and a discount on a future race entry! You can even help and run on race day.

Each course will be well marked with orange plastic ribbons with black polka dots. Trail junctions and turns will be well marked with colored laminated signs. Please pay attention to these signs at each junction as there are multiple race distances and race courses! Course signs will correspond with your bib color(2mile will follow pink) (2 Mile and 4 Mile = White, 13K = Purple, 26K = Green, 40K = Yellow). In addition, blue & white checkerboard plastic flagging and pink WRONG WAY signage will be posted to designate non-race trails. All runners are responsible for understanding the layout of the courses. Please familiarize yourself with the course maps on our website prior to race day and/or print a map to bring along with you.
Parking / Start Area
The start/finish line is located at the 10 Lane Boat Ramp. Parking is available on site.
Camping is available at Lake Pleasant Regional Park for both tents and RV’s. Please visit Lake Pleasant’s camping site for reservations.
From central Phoenix, take I-17 north to Carefree Highway (SR 74). Exit Carefree Hwy. and travel west 15 miles to Castle Hot Spring Road. Travel north to Lake Pleasant Regional Park entrance.
