It is that time of year again, for runners to truly find what they are made of-- to find their Limits. It’s time for runners to take the Limitless Vertical Challenge to unlock their endless potential.
The 2021 Limitless Vertical Challenge is back, and will be serving as event three in our four event SLAM Series of virtual events. Limitless will have a little Hardrock flavor to it this year, and will occur as Jamil hits his peak weeks in training for the 2021 Hardrock100.
New to the 2021 Limitless Vertical Challenge is a variety of new, unlockable challenge badges. In addition, the event will be 10 days this year instead of 7 days. Oh, and it isn't just 10 days of plain climbing-- there is an all new experiential component to this year's event including livestreams and daily challenges for runners to win some cool prizes! Pairing all of that with an updated swag bag, and incredible merch options-- Limitless is a must do challenge for all the mountain goats out there.
Register by June 13th to ensure your race packet ships before the start of the race. Any participant who registers after that date will have their packet ship 10 business days after the event finishes.
Choose Your Challenge
As with all Aravaipa Virtual challenges, the main goal is to keep it inclusive and serve every runner’s needs or environment. So whether your medium is the mountains or a cranked-up treadmill, there are two categories, or "teams" available to get you higher: Vert Is Real and Virtual Vert. Before the challenge begins, you’ll select your canvas for climbing and compete against others in your category("Team"). Please know that the live results will not filter runners by "Team" or vert category. However, you will be able to see which category runners are in. In addition, the final results that are posted on the Aravaipa Running website will be filtered out by vert category.
No treadmills allowed. The Vert Is Real category is all about the outdoor climb. From big peaks to neighborhood hill repeats, the great outdoors puts you in the Vert Is Real category. Because, in nature, what goes up must certainly come down. That’s more miles, and more punishment on the quads.
Treadmills allowed. The Virtual Vert category gives you permission to max out the grade and grind in place to reach your climbing goals. You’re welcome to throw some trails and outdoor features into the mix, but if a treadmill is involved for a single step along the way, then Virtual Vert is the category for your uphill mission.
#IAMLIMITLESS Unlockable Badges
Like other virtual races and challenges, YOU are in control. You get to design your course, choose your location, mix up locations each day as you like, and keep track of your progress through the week. Keep us updated each day by tagging us on Instagram @AravaipaVirtual and use the hashtag #IAMLIMITLESS to share your summits as you trek toward the next level. Earn a virtual badge for every virtual mountain and level you conquer! As you grind out your gain, upload your results via the Run Signup results portal. The easiest way to upload your results is to manually enter your run data, but you can also upload .tcx files from your Strava, Garmin, or Treadmill. Run Signup will have a live leaderboard where your results will be posted so you can admire the virtual view along with all the other challengers. Celebrate a stronger you by sharing your photos, videos, or social posts and we will send you all the virtual high fives and kudos that go along with a strong finish!
The LIMITLESS Experience
As with all Aravaipa Virtual races, our main goal is to create a participant experience that is second to none. For our LIMITLESS Vertical Challenge, we will create that experience by offering both daily challenges and live shows to keep you all entertained and stoked to grind along our your vert filled adventure!

Every day throughout the course of our 10-Day LIMITLESS event, we will be offering a unique challenge to help bring some fun and energy to your daily vert adventure. The list of daily challenges can be found below, and will be detailed during the previous days live show (more on that to come), ensuring that most runners know about the daily challenge prior to starting the next days run. Winners of each daily challenge will receive a prize, and will be announced on the following days livestream. Some of the challenges may require some fun and creative planning to successfully complete. The challenge timeline can be found below, but you will have to tune into our daily livestreams to find out the details of each challenge!

LIMITLESS Live
In addition to our amazing #IAMLIMITLESS Challenges, we will be hosting daily livestreams every weekday throughout the course of the event. During each livestream, we will take a look at the live leaderboard, will check in on those participants sharing their journey on Instagram, and will be announcing the next day's challenge along with the prior days challenge winner.
Be sure to tune in each day at 3p Arizona Time on the Aravaipa Running Youtube Channel to experience Limitless Live! We will also share any stories and answer any questions from the YouTube Live Chat on the show so you are able to interact with us directly! It is going to basically be a little virtual hangout and is going to be a ton of fun, so mark your calendars and join us live!
Participant Swag Bag
All participants in the LIMITLESS Vertical Challenge this summer will receive a LIMITLESS race packet via mail. Runners will receive a LIMITLESS Tank (men's and women's cuts available, a #IAMLIMITLESS Head Wrap, a race bib, a LIMITLESS Koozie, and an incredibly unique handcrafted wooden medal designed by our very own Aravaipa Artworx. This race medal concept is one of a kind, and allows participants to actually splay or separate the medal layers (like a dog tag)!
In addition to the race pack, plenty of premium upgrades will be available for purchase including a Premium Award (designed by Aravaipa Artworx), a LIMITLESS magnet+bottle opener, a #IAMLIMITLESS buckle, and a number of other amazing swag items!
