With coaching for athletes from 1 mile to 100 miles, Coach Bonnett can help any runner. James specializes in ultra running, trail running, and road running and can help you train for a specific race or just improve your running in general.

About Coach James

James has a deep background, with 20 years of running experience and 15 years of ultrarunning experience. He has completed over 100 ultramarathons, and is the youngest finisher of the Western States 100. James is an accomplished runner himself, holding numerous state and national running records. He is the current course record holder at the Leona Divide 50 Mile in a time of 6:24:46.

The following areas are James’ areas of expertise. He can help you focus on one or mix it up and experience all of them!

Ultrarunning 50k and up

Whether you’re looking to run your first 50k or trying to win a 100 mile, James has the experience to help your dreams become reality. From training to race day, James will help you every step of the way. Long runs, nutrition, foot care, night running and more are critical to success at these extended distances. James will guide you to exceed your own expectations and redefine your understanding of what you’re capable of!

Trail Running 5k to Marathon and Ultras
Many road runners move to the trails as the discover the unsurpassed beauty of remote landscapes. Others find the soft dirt a welcome break on their legs. Still others are drawn to the more challenging trails as their adrenaline surges with the rugged terrain. Whatever you’re looking for, Coach James will help you transition to the trails and learn the keys to running easily and confidently over anything you encounter.

Road Running 5k to Marathon
The road is an ideal place to run for its accessibility, consistency, and speed. If you’re just getting into running or looking to set a PR, Coach James can help you train right and race right to perform your best and enjoy the journey getting there. From speed work to the long run, James will take you from the first step to the finish line.

Which Program is Right for Me?
Coach James offers two training programs. The Personalized Coaching Program is an intensive, highly interactive coaching service designed to maximize feedback and improvement for the runners. Regular communication between the coach and runner including weekly training runs will keep you motivated and on-track to reach your goals.

For the self-motivated runner needing some guidance, Coach James also offers a custom written Training Schedule. Based upon an email and phone consultation, James will build a custom plan for a proper build up to a goal race. You will receive the training schedule after an initial consultation, then will be left to follow the plan independently. A final race-week conference will ensure you are ready to succeed on the big day.

Personalized Coaching Program
Coach James provides personalized, real coaching. This includes an initial face-to-face meeting to assess your needs, weekly training plans customized to you, regular email contact, and phone / text contact. If you live within the Phoenix area, Aravaipa Running hosts a weekly Wednesday night trail run where James can speak with you and hone your trail running abilities. This program also includes a weekly coached track workout for runners living in Arizona. The personalized coaching program is available in monthly segments (2 month minimum) and can be tailored towards a specified race or general training.

Program cost:
2 Month = $200
3 Month = $300
6 Month = $550
9 Month = $775
12 Month = $1,000

Personalized Coaching Program

Phone Consult & Training Schedule
Coach James will build you a custom training schedule designed specifically to prepare you for an upcoming goal race. This program includes an initial email and phone consultation with Coach James who will then write a specific program suited to your needs for the length of your training cycle. A 30 minute pre-race phone conference the week leading up to your race is also included to discuss race strategy and preparation. Once the program is complete, Coach James will follow up with a final phone conference to reflect on your race and help you learn for the future. This program DOES NOT include additional phone calls, emails, or coach interaction during the length of the training cycle. 8 Week = $100
12 Week = $125
16 Week = $150
