Veronica Rudolphi, Mogollon Monster, 2016

Melia CouryPost-Race Interview

VERONICA (RONI) RUDOLPHI

Melia Coury: I’m Melia Coury here with Aravaipa Running and Roni Rudolphi and you just won our Mogollon Monster 2016 100 miler, and this was your first 100 miler along with setting a course record here by like 4 hours! How are you feeling right now?

Roni Rudolphi: Pretty happy, very satisfied.

Melia: What was it like for you out on the trails yesterday and this morning?

Roni: Beautiful, really hard. Yeah I just felt really lucky to be out there among a great group of people.

M: So what in training for this did you do something in particular to prepare for your first 100?

R: I did a couple of doubles in the Catalinas in Tucson. Three and two weeks out. So those were my big training runs. Other than that I try to hit the trails around Tucson three times a week so yeah.

M: Was there anything about Mogollon that jumped out at you.

R: That is was advised not to be your first 100. I thought that sounded really hard and I don’t know I thought it was a challenge. I really wanted to do it. And to see the views from the rim I think that is pretty perfect.

M: And then what are you looking to do next after this?

R: I’m going to take it easy. I have no plans. I’m starting school so I want to focus on that and I don’t know I kind of want to come back to the Black Canyon and finish it. Since I got hurt last year at that race so it would be kind of cool to do it. That’s about it.
